Our formal objective

The Bishop's Stortford Food Bank is registered with the Charity Commission and our formal objective is:

The prevention or relief of poverty in Hertfordshire and Essex in particular, but not exclusively, by providing emergency food supplies and related provisions to individuals in need and to charities or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

Our registered Charity Number is 1154800

How we are run

The Food Bank is managed by a Board of Trustees from the local community. They bring to the Charity a variety of personal and professional skills and experiences to ensure the Charity operates within the legal responsibilities and regulations it is required to follow to meet the above objective.

The Trustees meet formally at least six times a year with smaller working groups meeting additionally to support our fantastic centre volunteers and to raise the profile of the Food Bank locally.

None of our volunteers or Trustees receive any payment for their time. Thanks to local generous donations, the Food Bank is able to employ a part time Food Bank Coordinator who manages the day to day operation of our centre in South Street.
